BEO is urging the Home Secretary to commit to the recommendations laid out in the Windrush Lessons Learned Review

BY BEO | 20/01/2023

The Black Equity Organisation (BEO) is urging the Home Secretary to commit to the recommendations laid out in the Windrush Lessons Learned Review by Wendy Williams.

The Windrush scandal continues to cause pain and suffering to Black people across the country. Due to reports that the Government are looking to ditch the key recommendations from the Wendy Williams review, BEO began to work with 38 Degrees to start a petition urging the Government to keep its promises.

Sign our petition urging the Home Secretary to honour key Windrush commitments

Some of the key recommendations set out in the Wendy Williams review are:

    • The Government to appoint a Migrant’s Commissioner, responsible for speaking up for migrants
    • Establishing a compensation scheme for those who experienced losses due to not having evidence of their lawful right to live and work in the UK
  • Reconciliation events to be held with members of the Windrush generation

We urge the Government to stick to the promises they made and ensure the 30 pledges are implemented in full.
