Maaha’s story

BY BEO | 07/10/2025

What is your name and background?
My name is Maaha Suleiman, and I am the founder of CareAlgo. I studied Global Health and Social Medicine at King’s College London, which shaped my understanding of how health and social systems affect communities. Professionally, my background is in business development, where I’ve focused on supporting third-sector organisations to secure funding, build partnerships, and expand their impact. My career has always centred around creating opportunities for underrepresented communities and driving social change.

Tell us about your business and how you started it. Have you always wanted to become a business owner? Where did the idea for your business come from?
I never planned to become a business owner — the idea for CareAlgo emerged during my final year at university. Conversations with my mum, who worked as a care worker, opened my eyes to a serious gap in the sector: the absence of culturally appropriate care for people from minority backgrounds. I realised that if no one else was tackling this issue, I had a responsibility to step up. That was the beginning of CareAlgo, a company committed to combining technology and training to make care more inclusive and person-centred. Since then, we have worked to influence policy and practice in social care, ensuring that cultural competence is recognised as essential. Through collaborations, we’re proud to see this becoming an industry standard, with organisations such as the Care Quality Commission and Skills for Care now embedding culturally appropriate care within their official guidelines. We remain dedicated to driving this change forward with sector leaders.

How did you come across BEO’s F100 Growth Fund programme?
I first heard about the programme through a friend I met while participating in the London Health Accelerator. They recommended it as a great opportunity for founders tackling social impact challenges.

What made you want to apply for it?
I was drawn to the F100 Growth Fund for the funding support, but equally for the chance to connect with other founders facing similar challenges. The opportunity for mentoring, guidance, and practical advice also made it the perfect programme for me at this stage of CareAlgo’s journey.

What have been the key benefits of joining the F100 Growth Fund (this can be the financial benefits, personal development or other benefits like access to supply chains/networks/investors)
The biggest benefits have been the financial support and the networking opportunities. Having access to a community of entrepreneurs has been invaluable, not just for building connections, but also for learning from the shared experiences of other founders. With the funding I have plans to hire support and grow the business, while contributing to the economy.

What would be your top tip for any business owners out there looking to apply to our next cohort of our F100 Growth Fund programme?
Be open to learning and networking. Make the most of every opportunity that comes your way, whether that’s mentorship, events, or new connections. Be proactive in contributing to the community, the more you put in, the more you’ll gain from the experience.
