Before starting his business, Marvin was in his final year studying BSc Physics at UCL while working part-time as a courier. His experience working as a courier gave him an insight into the constant demand for van services and made him realise that courier services were only one part of a much wider transport and logistics industry.
His journey as a founder has not been without challenges. One of the most significant was having his work van stolen, an experience that tested his resilience but also strengthened his determination to make the business succeed.
Alongside building his business, he is particularly proud of completing his university degree. His mother passed away in December 2023 while he was still at university, and he came close to giving up on his studies. Despite the difficulties that followed, he continued and successfully completed his degree.
His journey has involved sacrifices, difficult decisions and personal battles, but also determination, persistence and self-motivation. His mother remains one of his biggest influences. She worked hard throughout her life, including while dealing with illness, while also investing in infrastructure and running a business in Ghana. Her example continues to motivate him and has shaped his approach to both life and entrepreneurship.
For him, joining BEO’s F100 programme has been particularly meaningful at this early stage of his entrepreneurial journey. He describes the experience as life-changing and says he is no longer the same person he was before joining the programme.
Looking ahead, his advice to his younger self is to be more proactive and not fear rejection. His philosophy is simple: the faster you fail, the faster you learn.
