BEO is entirely focused on driving equality, justice and rights for all Black people in Britain.

Evidence tells us that many of the problems faced by Black people are systemic. Racism is embedded in systems in everything from health and education, to criminal justice and housing. We recognise the scale of the challenge and we know we can’t do it alone; we will work with grassroots organisations and allies. But we believe there is a way to get there.

We mean people of Black African, Black Caribbean and Black mixed heritage in the UK.

Money donated by individuals, other organisations and businesses will be used to fund the on-going work of BEO as well as specific campaigns, activities and programmes.

At BEO we know we can only drive lasting systemic change if we work in partnership. Our role is to create evidence-based solutions through partnerships and programmes with others to provide opportunities and improve outcomes across our six key areas. We will use a data and evidence-based approach to persuade, campaign, convene all involved parties to highlight ways these issues can be overcome.

We have already been in extensive consultation with community groups and will continue to listen to the needs of the community. We intend to visit all areas of the UK to engage with Black communities

We are so sorry to hear that you have been the victim of race discrimination and we understand this must be a very difficult experience. Unfortunately, BEO does not have the capacity or resources to take on individual discrimination cases. We hope to develop this service in the future, but this is not currently something we are able to offer. We however support strategic litigation cases which are issues that we believe disproportionately affect Black communities, please email legal@blackequityorg.com with any suggestions.

However, you can find answers to questions on discrimination cases at Citizens Advice, or if your case is related to employment then please get in touch with ACAS.

Legal fees can be very expensive and it can be incredibly stressful trying to cover your costs. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide funds to individuals for their legal fees. We recommend checking to see if you have legal cover if you have a home and contents insurance policy, or checking on legal support offered if you are a member of a trade union, or contact solicitors who may offer a no-win, no-fee option.

Regrettably, we cannot offer individuals advice on a case-by-case basis. If you are unsure if you have a legal case, you can find support on Citizens Advice on how to proceed. Alternatively, check if you live or work in the catchment area of a Law Centre.
