As a Black entrepreneur, how can you secure investment from the venture capital world?
According to research from Extend Ventures, from 2009-2019 only 0.24% of venture capital went to Black entrepreneurs – a total of only 38 businesses. Even worse, just 0.02% went to Black female entrepreneurs.
In 2022, when the Black Equity Organisation (BEO) launched The Future 100 Growth Fund (F100) programme, our partnership with Sky, we said that our ambition was to “back the next generation of Black founders to thrive and succeed”.
Now as we reach the first anniversary of the F100, we are hosting a special event to help Black entrepreneurs better understand the venture capital (VC) world so that more of them can access this funding and use it to accelerate their business growth.
The event will:
Hosted by BEO and VC partners from Octopus Ventures, Anthemis Partners and Balderton Capital and others to be announced in the coming weeks
Opening address: Ric Lewis, BEO Board trustee and Executive Chairman and Chief Investment Officer at Tristan Capital Partners.
Panel discussion host: Eric Collins, CEO & Founding member at Impact X Capital and Author of ‘We don’t need Permission’
This event is for :
Applications closed on 5th May 2023.
If you are selected you will be notified between the 10th – 12th May, 2023.
Up to 25 companies will be invited to participate.
Once you have confirmed your attendance, the BEO team will request your pitch deck so that we can fully brief the participating investors for the speed networking session.
Please let us know if you are currently fundraising or planning to do so in the next 12 months.
Founders will need to come prepared to pitch their business ideas in person. Each person will be given 5 minutes to pitch.
This event is open to all those that fit the criteria mentioned above.
