Sonya Massey mattered. Her life was brutally taken by Officer Sean Grayson as he shot her in her own home.
After the murder of George Floyd, our communities were assured that nothing like that would happen again. We were assured that Black people would be protected and safe as they should be in the hands of law enforcement. Yet, countless cases of police brutality against Black people have occurred for years, with Sonya Massey becoming another victim.
This systemic racism continues and will not stop unless accountability and reform are demanded and implemented. We send our thoughts to Sonya’s children who lost their mother to senseless, racist violence, and call for a prison sentence to be taken against Sean Grayson.
